THE OLD ART COLLEGE
Branding & Photography
2020/21

Branding a Cowork space.

The Old Art College is a newly renovated Co-work space in Loughborough, UK. The team behind the project required a fresh brand to represent the building that had previously been used as an Art college.

Originally opened in 1935 the building is steeped in period architecture and the brand needed to work harmoniously with the bricks & mortar aesthetic of the building. With a new purpose and renovation, the brand has to also present a fresh and modern visual for the space moving forward.

Several logo variants were created during the branding process, introducing a footprint design and initials (OAC) design. The footprint design was drawn from the physical footprint of the Old Art College and stylised with stamp texture to reference to the aged, worn aesthetic of the building which has become part and parcel of the building’s charm.

The colour pallette for the OAC brand uses a carefully selected range of pastel colours alongside a stracciatella style pattern.

Alongside the main brand for the OAC we were also tasked in helping brand the coffee shop on the ground floor. The name ‘Public’ and logo had already been determined. The team at the OAC wanted a fun, fresh branding approach for their menus and social media imagery. A hand written style typeface was chosen to give the coffee house a personal, informal feel. This was paired with quirky slogans and graffiti style graphics.
